Current Director of INALCO’s China Department, Vincent Durand-Dastès is a specialist in narrative literature (novels, anecdotes, narrative ballads, theatre) from the last centuries of Imperial China. He studies more particularly hagiographical stories (Buddhist, Taoist, non-official religions), the imagination of the afterlife (death, hell, dream) and in general the relationship to the supernatural in pre-modern Chinese literature.
